Nova Energy is a part of the Todd Energy group, one of New Zealand’s leading gas explorers and producers for over 70 years. This experience and direct access to natural gas means we can offer our customers expert gas advice and enhanced security of supply.

We take care of getting our residential, commercial and industrial customers natural gas requirements installed and working.
We are responsible for breaking the established network-provider monopolies by building bypass networks to deliver natural gas directly to our customers. We now own and operate a natural gas network in Wellington, Porirua, the Hutt Valley, Hastings, Hawera, Papakura, East Tamaki and Manakau City.

By providing customers with an alternative energy and delivery option, we have introduced much-needed competition into this area of the energy market with long-term benefits for not only our customers, but all energy users in the areas that we operate.

Business

By constructing pipeline networks that bypass those of incumbent suppliers, Nova Energy forced monopoly pipeline charges to be significantly reduced. As a result, in some geographical regions Nova Energy is able to provide both energy and pipeline services to business customers on an extremely competitive basis.

Along with traditional natural gas retail operations and pipeline services, we are also able to assist companies with energy audits, gas consumption reports and innovative tariff structures to optimise each customer’s gas usage.

Nova Energy actively delivers information to customers to assist them in understanding the energy risks and options for their business. By working with our customers, the Nova Energy team is able to understand the detailed gas profile for the business and design appropriate tariffs, consumption reporting information, and demand management initiatives to mitigate the customer’s risk.

Being part of the Todd Energy group means we have access to extensive gas reserves include our 6.25% interest in Maui, 50% interest in the Kapuni field, 100% ownership of McKee and Mangahewa plus a 26% share in the Pohokura gas field. This backing supports Nova Energy's ability to offer long-term gas supply options for energy-intensive business customers.
