How Solar Works

Make an appointment with one of our consultants for a Free Solar Consultation, this is a no obligation service to see if your home is suitable for solar.

The roof mounted, slimline flat plate collectors transfer the sun's heat directly into the water that flows through the solar panels. The water is then circulated to the hot water cylinder where it is stored ready for use. If there is not enough sun to heat the water to the required temperature, or if you use all water in your cylinder quickly, then the system will  use another energy source (like electricity, gas or a wetback) to bring the cylinder's water up to the desired heat.

The water circulation and the booster heat are controlled by the Solarstat controller, this is programmed to activate an electric pump when there is a specific temperature difference (10 degrees) between the water in the cylinder and the the water in the solar panels so that a constant temperature is maintained by circulating and re heating the water as necessary. The controller will also ensure that the auxiliary heating source is only turned on as needed, so that power is not going to waste and you'll have hot water on demand all year round.

how solar works

Our solar water heating system is effectively ‘install and forget’. Once it is installed, the smart controller does all the work. You carry on with your normal water use and simply enjoy the lower water heating bills, safe in the knowledge your carbon footprint is decreasing in size.
