You need a minimum of 3 SIMs on your account and each SIM comes with endless calls, texts and data, including 40GB at max speed each month.

If you’re not big on voice calls or sending texts, a data-only SIM might be just what you need for connecting a secondary device, your fleet car or turning your mobile into a WiFi hotspot to process that sale.

Data-only SIMs come with the same 40GB of max speed data per month, then endless data at reduced speed – all for just $20/month (ex GST).

The number of data-only SIMs can’t exceed the number of full-service SIMs on your account.

Our mobile services are provided over a nationwide network you can trust. Our network partner, 2degrees has invested heavily into building a reliable network across Aotearoa. With over $1billion spent on the network and more than 1,900 cell sites nationwide, check the mobile coverage map to see the indicative signal strength in your area.

We’re also 5G ready on selected devices in some areas of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. 5th generation network technology means faster download and upload speeds and lower latency to enhance your mobile experience.

Frequent Questions

Keep your old SIM in your device.
Log in to the Nova Hub and request to bring your number to Nova.
You’ll receive a text message from 2542 letting you know the transfer process is underway.
It usually takes around 2 hours for the transfer to go through, at which point you'll lose service on your old SIM.
When you lose service, power off your device and then pop in your new Nova SIM.
Power on your device and your number will be active on your new Nova SIM.

If you have an iPhone we also recommend turning iMessage off and on. You can find this under Settings > Messages > iMessage. iPhones are known to have slight delays in updating their texting services (for up to 24 hours). The above steps should help resolve any issues you have.

You can't share data between SIMs in your Group, or carryover data. But because our mobile plans are endless, you won't have to worry about running out!

Once you’ve used your max speed data allocation for the month, speeds will be reduced to around 1.2Mbps. To manage your data usage, use the Nova Hub to keep tabs on how you're tracking.

Any unused max speed data at the end of the month will expire.

Yes, you can view your data usage in the Nova Hub and we’ll send you a text alert when you reach 80% and 100% or your max speed data allowance.

SMS and MMS are ways to send messages from one phone to another, but they have some differences.

SMS stands for Short Message Service and is often referred to as a text message. Used for everyday communication, SMS is limited to 160 alphabetic and/or numerical characters (no pictures or videos).

MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. With MMS, you can send and receive messages containing media files like pictures, videos, audio and text. It's like sending a message with attachments when you share a photo or a video with someone.

The mobile coverage map indicates the areas where you are expected to have the ability to connect to a mobile network when outdoors. It is based on technical data to predict where it should be possible to connect to the network and where indicated, to estimate how good that connection could be.
The map provides general guidance on where the 2degrees network and outdoor coverage are available. It does not guarantee that you will be able to connect or that you will experience the predicted quality of connection.
The coverage map does not apply if you are indoors. If you are indoors, the building construction and your location within the building may also affect your experience. For example, you are more likely to have difficulty connecting to the network or a poor experience if you are inside a building with thick walls and few windows, or in a basement.
The mobile coverage map does not apply to phones (or devices) that are not properly configured or that are incompatible with New Zealand mobile networks. For the best experience, your phone (or device) must be fully compatible with our network. It is especially important to check if your phone (or device) was purchased second hand or refurbished, purchased overseas, through an international website, or was not purchased from a New Zealand network provider.
To connect to our 4G and 5G networks, you need to have a phone (or device) compatible with our 4G/5G network, be in an area with 4G/5G coverage, and have an appropriate mobile plan.
To use a phone (or device) on 2degrees’ mobile network it needs to be compatible with 2degrees’ frequency bands. For the best coverage and performance, it should support all of 2degrees’ frequency bands. While the majority of phones do, if you’re having coverage issues in a particular area you may need to check your specification to confirm which frequency bands are supported.
