Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
Our home phone services use the internet, rather than traditional copper lines. If you use medical alarms, monitored security, life-support, or other devices that need a copper landline:
- Check with the device supplier or manufacturer to make sure it works with VoIP. If it doesn’t, please don’t sign up for our home phone service.
- Test your devices once your phone is set up.
- Contact the supplier if anything stops working. If there's a power or broadband outage, the landline will also stop working - including for calling 111.
If someone in your home depends on a landline for health, safety, or disability reasons, you might qualify as a Vulnerable Consumer and get extra help.
